Mental Health and Recovery Board's Planning Committee meeting will be Tuesday, Nov. 13 at 4 p.m. at the board office located at 1605 County Road 1095. There will be a special session of the Jeromesville Village Council on Tuesday, Nov. 13 at 7 p.m. at town hall.

Village, library levies meet with approval; Bailey Lakes vote ends in a tie

However, Bailey Lakes' proposed 5-mill additional tax levy for roads and bridges ended in a tie with 70 votes for and against the issue. While the Ashland County Board of Elections could not be reached Tuesday evening, any provisional ballots cast will most likely will determine its fate.

Jeromesville fire district hopes to purchase new fire engine with levy

The Jeromesville Community Fire District has proposed a 1-mill additional tax levy on the 2018 ballot in the hope of replacing a 25-year-old fire engine. The levy would cost $35 on a home valued at $100,000 and would bring in $65,919 annually, according to Ashland County Auditor Cindy Funk.

New Pittsburg Fire prepares for emergency at Rover compressor station

It's difficult to create an emergency plan for a situation that has never presented itself in Wayne County, let alone the United States. The installation of the Rover Pipeline compressor station on North Elyria Road presented such a problem for New Pittsburg Fire & Rescue, which will take the lead in case of any emergency on the property.

A sweet tradition -- Jeromesville United Methodist Church has been...

In the basement of the United Methodist Church in Jeromesville, a wave of sugar and spice wafts up from the team of church members concocting their annual batches of hard tack candy. Started in the 1950s by the Homebuilders Sunday school class at the church, the tradition runs as heavy as the molten sugar that is molded every Monday night from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. The tradition started with the Homebuilders Class, a Sunday class for young couples who were starting families, according to church member Earl Hardy.

Certified Angus Beef celebrates anniversary with barn artwork

For 40 years, the Wooster-based Certified Angus Beef brand has been linking the farm to the dinner plate by raising the bar high for itself and constantly striving to set the standards by which all beef is measured. To celebrate, they threw a party.

The Sullivan Township Board of Commissions will have a special meeting on Oct. 22 at 7 p.m. The meeting will be held in the township community room. The meeting is being held to discuss the stated proposed 2018 amended zoning district map and the 2018 proposed amended zoning resolution to be submitted to the Ashland County Planning Commission.
